I’ll have a trout burger

Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture, is the largest rainbow trout-producing city in Japan. What better way to celebrate the fact than opening a special ‘trout burger’ shop? The store is in front of the 1,200 year-old Fujisan Hongu Sengentaisha shrine, which is right at the bottom of Mt. Fuji. You can get two styles of Trout burger; both prepared using fried trout and vegetables grown locally. The Tomato Basil Burger features “trout wrapped in watercress, creating the impression of a fish swimming in a stream”, while the Crisp Miso Burger features spicy trout in tartar sauce with homemade miso, eggplant and tomato.” All for a measly 400 yen ($3.40/£1.80).
‘Flounder’ of the restaurant Toshiko Ogawa, opened the ‘plaice’ on 4th August. Ogawa stated “Even though this is a trout-producing district, our city has very few restaurants with trout on the menu. We’d like tourists to try our burgers and be reminded of the fact that Fujinomiya is the city of rainbow trout.”
