Chimp and TV

That title was supposed to sound like ‘Chimpanzee’. Did it work? Should I have written ‘Chimpanteevee’? Anyway, a zoo in Ichihara, Chiba is being investigated for putting a male chimpanzee in too many TV programs. The Environment Ministry believes that the zoo could be breaking the species preservation law. The 5-year-old chimp was originally given to the zoo in the hope that it would breed, but instead it has become a popular character on a midnight TV show, amongst other programs. A grumpy official claimed that “TV appearances impose burdens on the chimpanzee, which is getting into the breeding season, and it may violate the law.” The zoo has been asked to provide a breeding plan, and is currently looking for a partner for the chimp. I would’ve thought that it would be fairly easy for a big TV star to find a partner himself.
