Pillow that rocks like a train

On trains in Japan, you’ll rarely find a carriage without a snoozing passenger. There’s something about that side-to-side movement that just sends you straight to sleep. Lofty, a manufacturer of many bed related items, has produced a vibrating pillow to mimic that swaying action. The pillow uses powered magnets to generate these movements, and can also generate vibrations “modeled on the rhythm of a mother’s heartbeat”. Hmm. The strength is adjustable and is powered by four AA batteries. The pillow will be on sale in January 2007 and priced 25,000 yen ($214/£113).
