Hitachi biometric computer login system
11th October, 2006 by stuart
Body-obsessed technology giant, Hitachi, has revealed their new biometric vein recognition system. The little device is designed to read the map of veins in one of your fingers, with the intended application of PC security. Why bother to remember a password to login to your computer, when you can just stick your finger in a little slot instead? The device on its own costs 29,400 yen (£133/$245), while the software is 21,000 yen (£95/$175). I really don’t know why the software is sold separately. It’s not like you’re going to find some cheap 3rd party vein-reading software online. Hitachi aim to sell 300,000 sets by 2008.
