Walking Partner Robot
18th October, 2006 by manda
The Walking Partner Robot has been introduced by Nomura Unison, to assist people with walking difficulties. The robot has sensors to locate obstructions in the walker’s path, and will voice warnings and stick on the brakes if necessary. The walker holds 2 handles and pushes the 4-wheeled, unmotorized robot, safe in the knowledge that they’ll be warned if stairs or other items enter their path. Walking Partner Robot will be on display at the 2006 Suwa Area Industrial Messe tomorrow, and will be commercially available shortly for 500,000 yen ($4214/£2251).
