Hospital robot

The Aizu central hospital in Fukushima has two new employees on the payroll. The hospital introduced robots for two specific positions. The first is the job of receptionist, which goes to the blue robot. The blue robot is there to ask you where you are going, and to help you out by displaying a little map of the hospital on its chest. The other job is for the green robot, which is to guide you to your destination. “Off for an X-ray Mrs. Thompson? Follow me”. The green robot can also help carry your bag for you. “Just stick your bag on my arm, I promise I won’t steal it”.

[…] Be prepared to say goodbye to the days when you could ogle at nurses during your stay at the hospital for that slipped disk. Speaking of disks, here’s the reason why: the Aizu central hospital in Fukushima, Japan has started employing two robots to help them get work done in the ER. Blue greets patients at the reception and coordinates their treatments and accomodations, and Green ushers them to their rooms. As you can see from the picture, it doesn’t mind doing some on-the-side luggage lugging, either. And you don’t have to tip. […]

  9. Plastic Bamboo » Ubiko, the fire prevention robot Says:

[…] Tmsuk, Kyushu University, and the Kanazawa Institute of Technology already caused a stir with their blue and green hospital receptionist robots. Now they’ve added a red fire prevention robot to the team. Ubiko uses its robot nose or “olfactory sensors specifically tuned to detect the odors of smoke and ash” to determine the source of a possible fire. Unfortunately, the robot can’t actually put the fire out; it can only alert the relevant authorities. Or melt. […]
