World’s smallest robot by Takara-Tomy
23rd January, 2007 by manda
A hand-sized humanoid robot has been produced by Takara-Tomy, and is aimed at adults who played with toy soldiers when they were younger; primarily men in their 20’s or 30’s. The company, who also created the Transformer iPod dock we mentioned yesterday, has introduced the Omnibot2007 i-SOBOT, dubbed the world’s smallest robot (not sure if I agree with that claim), at only 6.6″/16.5cm tall. The robot plays music, speaks simple words, moves with commands from a remote control, and can also take instructions from human voices. As the birthrate is declining in Japan, it is understood that the toy market for adults will keep expanding. The executive general manager of Takara-Tomy says, “With i-SOBOT, you can make your dreams come true - that is to control you own robot”. It is available from July for 29,800 yen ($245/£123).

I have had my i-SOBOT for a few days now. It is well worth the money for what it does and how it does it. It is actually the “Smallest massed produced humanoid robot”. (Guinness book of world records)
He comes with a plethora of commands and is very fun to play with. A big kids toy it is, but my 12 year old son love it as well. Looking forward to the accessories and maybe a version with LAN/Camera abilities.
