Use your phone for product info
9th February, 2007 by stuart
Best friends, FamilyMart, C. Itoh & Co, and Toshiba TEC, have got together to come up with a new electronic tagging system for convenience stores. As part of a trial, small 5cm wide tags can be currently found on products in a handful of FamilyMarts around Tokyo. If you’re lucky enough to own a mobile phone, you can scan the tag to bring up detailed information on the item you’re thinking of buying. It has yet to be decided what the minimum price of products to bear the tag should be, as the tags cost approximately 50 yen each, which would make it pointless if stuck on really cheap items.
