Isn’t it a little silly to blast Kanye for sampling a Daft Punk song when the song it sampled was itself directly based on “Cola Bottle Baby” by Edwin Birdsong?

I mean, I’m not saying sampling is necessarily a bad thing, but it’s a little hypocritical of you to find some fault with Kanye’s use of sampling and not with Daft Punk’s.

No, not at all. I love sampling, but in this case it’s just done really badly. Taking a good thing and making it bad.

Although I understand that debating music tastes is just about the most futile thing out there, you should realize that the the slower sample Kanye uses in this is actually a version that Daft Punk had been playing in concerts for a bit.

Kanye’s also said that he doesn’t feel like this song even compares to the original.

this video is awesome, so well done. and captures the coolness of Akira. Yall are being lame about this because you have issues with kanye, or have in the past. But this is the best live anime tribute ive ever seen (way better than kill bill, Shinobi, or anything else)
