Why are some people so imperiallistic and narrow minded that anything that may be percieved as bizarre from a particular cultural viewpoint is immediately labelled a ‘probable’ fake?
1. This product; its marketing, advertising and even its price is specifically designed for the Japanese market so yes, to most Westerners it looks wierd.
2. If you think its a fake, do some homework and find some evidence.
Here are some facts for the doubters;
- The domain is registered to ‘Kentucky Fried Chicken Japan LTD’.
- The Group’s ‘principal activity is to operate Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut and other restaurants.’ It is a registered business is Japan with over 1000 emplyees and a serious sales record for 2006.
3. If you think this is strange, look at the rest of the menu. (http://www.pizzahut.jp/menu/)

If you still think its a fake after a 1 min Google search and a brief suspension of that pesky clinical paraoia and lack of cultural sensetivity, please do the world a favor and keep your comments to yourself.

Here’s a list of the ingredients, as there seems to be a little confusion:

In addition to the bacon-weiner/cheese-stuffed crust, there’s hamburgers, edamame, corn, red pepper, Italian sausage, ham, bacon, bacon BITS, sliced mushrooms, onions, green pepper, garlic chips, basil, and black pepper.

They also include maple syrup to drizzle on the cheese crust.

“Recommended for children” it says. It should say “Recommended for children that exercise at least 3 and a half hours per day and with no history of heart disease or high blood pressure in their families.”

Oh, and it’s very real; you can order it via the Pizza Hut online service in Japan.

As insane as it fucking is, this thing is actually real. Pizza in Japan is really different (not to mention fucking expensive,) and I’ve actually seen the commercials for this here too. Also, according to this ad, you get bacon stuffed in with the sausage, and you can have honey maple syrup in your cheese stuffed crust. TAll i can say is that the monumentally disgusting shit this thing would turn into will probably destroy your toilet.

Thjis isn’t a Japanese idea, it’s a Pizza Hut idea (the worst). they do pizzas with exactly the same cheesy roll things round the edge here in the UK too. I can’t believe anyone buys them.

I live in Tokyo and order at least one crazy pizza a month; there’s plenty to choose from. The last one I tried was a Dominos lasagne/pizza hybrid which was sickening. Pizza base, meat sauce, regular pizza toppings, thick layer of cheese, meat sauce, and yet more cheese. For christmas they are offering ‘gourmet’ pizzas with scallop, roast beef and smoked salmon toppings. Really.

The sausage roll and burger one above was alright, but as you might have guessed, a bit over the top. Earlier in the year they offered a similar pizza that took the concept even further- the entire crust was a sausage. A bit sausage. Oo-er.

The sausage and cheese rolls are hardly attached to the pizza, and come with sauce sachets. The sausage has ketchup. Quite appropriate. However, the cheese rolls have sweet syrup. Which is not.

Pizza Hut in Japan is pretty expensive, but you usually get 1000 yen off your next purchase when you order a pizza, and houses in delivery range are swamped with discount flyers. Nobody ever pays the full price!
