Blow-up planets

Planetaroom

“Watch them float free and easy around your room. Just like a planetarium!” PlanetaRoom is basically a selection of beach balls that you can fill with helium and watch float around your house. Ok, there’s more to them than that. They have pictures of the earth and the moon on them. Great. Plus, once you’ve spend all day watching them float around and it gets dark, the earth will glow to either mimic the city lighting of the world or a map of the stars. Only 2,310 yen (£10/$20)?! Why doesn’t everyone have one of these yet? Oh, yeah, because it’s rubbish.

well, once you realize how dumb you were for buying these, you could always hit yourself with the beach balls. Oh, excuse me, planetarium. :P

Damn… I have to learn to read the articles to the end. I bought the moon and thought I had a cool new gadget…

For the 2000 yen you get not a beach ball, but something a little smaller than a soccer ball. There’s a huge tank of helium which has only enough helium to fill the ball once to an almost ball-shaped state. The craters look a bit pale, you have to look closely to recognize that it’s supposed to be the moon. In the dark it looks like a pale greenish orb, no visible craters, relative brightness much lower than the actual thing.

Not a total waste though, a pale greenish orb is still cool. Until all the helium leaks… then it will be a pale greenish piece of rubber.
