Strap-Ya eraser charger

Strap-Ya is legendary for bringing us the funkiest mobile phone straps, and has now launched one containing a very useful piece of technology. The item on the strap looks convincingly like an eraser, an item daft enough to look cool. However, remove the end section and you’ll find a mobile phone charger. The compact charger connects to the phone to provide 180 minutes of power, and the top panel can be removed to replace the batteries for repeated use. The charger is available for 830 yen (£3.50/$7.00).

Tiny Jenga

Not the most obvious of games to be made portable, Jenga can finally be with you wherever you go. Petit Jenga is a complete miniature Jenga set featuring a little “prodder” to assist the removing of blocks (your massive hands will be too big to remove with accuracy), as well as a little clear plastic carrying case that can be attached to your keys or belt loop if you’re a Jenga obsessive. Petit Jenga is 504 yen (£2.10/$4.20) from Strap-Ya.

Shinshoku LED watch by Tokyoflash

shinshoku watch

Another futuristic watch has just been launched by Tokyoflash, and like most of their collection, telling the time does require a bit of thought. The Shinshoku is a stainless steel band with small holes cutout around it. There are 3 models of the watch, with the multi-colour LED model probably being the easiest to tell the time with. There are 12 red lights that indicate the hour, 3 green lights that show each 15-minute quarter of the hour, and 14 yellow lights to let you see the minute. The Shinshoku is also available in All-Red and All-Green LED models, with etched markings along the strap to show the hours and minutes. If you think you can handle the time-telling challenge, the Shinshoku will cost you 13,800 yen ($116/£58).

Fruity watches by Seiko

Getting me in the mood for spring and summer, 10 fruity watches have just been launched by Seiko. The Appetime watches have a face showing half a sliced fruit, such as a pineapple, kiwi, orange, grape or mango, and use their seeds to indicate the minute and hour positions. The watches are brightly coloured, which the company say are to, “lift the wearer’s spirits”. There is also a calendar display on the more expensive 7,350 yen ($63/£32) models. The standard watch is 6,300 yen ($54/£28). If you like the watches, but want something a bit more “down to earth”, why not check out the veg line?!

Beef business card holder

beef business card holder

Solid Alliance have the created what I think is either the coolest or creepiest business card holder ever. It holds 10 cards, weighs only 30g, and represents a piece of Kobe beef. I’m not sure what response you’ll get from clients when you take this out your pocket, but it’ll certainly get you some attention! It will be available from 9th March for 2,980 yen ($25.60/£13.30). Possibly ideal if you’ve ever been called a cow!

Bright colours, made of plastic, got Pikachu on the display. What more do you want?! Takara Tomy recommend you buy one for 3,129 yen ($26/£13). Why not get both? Gotta buy ‘em all.

Orbit Series Elite watch

Another fantastic, futuristic watch is now on sale from Tokyoflash. The Orbit Series Elite is produced by EleeNo, and has a nice butterfly clasp to eliminate any dangly straps. Like most watches that Tokyoflash sell, the time isn’t ultra easy to tell; the outer black block shows the minutes, and the inner one shows the hours. Look at the picture and see how you get on! There are both coffee and marble models available, and the battery will last you a comfortable 4 years. The Orbit Series Elite is available for 16,800 yen ($139/£72).

StrapYa Hand Linker

StrapYa phone linker

Never drop your phone again using StrapYa’s new Hand Linker. It’s basically a bit of string with a ring on the end of it, but it aims to prevent your phone getting knocked out of your hand by accident. What’s more, you can click the ring onto a lanyard to save you carrying it all. 935 yen (£4/$7.80)? I’ll take two please.
